So I have this friend, for the sake of his reputation I'm going to call him Bobby. Bobby started out smoking pot during high school. Soon he was smoking about a half e a weekend. I've seen worse, so I wasn't worried in the least. Pots not a huge deal at all. Soon it went from pot to pills. And from pills it went to shrooms, crack, heroin, coke, ex, acid, and so much more (though this all started his freshman year of college at a really nice state school. UF...now he takes classes at BCC). When he graduated from high school he was a national merit semi-finalist. Now hes been in jail 3 times, all of them drug or booze related. He lost his bright futures but somehow managed to get him back. His last jail experience was for DUI of drugs, nicely put he could spend up to a year in jail when the DUI is combined with the other charges. When he was released from being arrested (he hasnt gone on trial yet) he said that he was going to stop doing drugs (with the expception of pot and bars) and long story short its been 3 days since his choice to stop and hes spent over $100 on coke last night that he bought from a random crack whore at 3 am in the morning. Plus he got into a fight over it with a guy who robbed the crack whore. Plus he's been popping pills like no other. The only reason I'm worried is that hes a good friend of mine. A really good friend. I could give a damn about the bud. Everyone smokes. Literally. The pills were perscribed by him by his doctor. But he's been through 60 of them in a week. He's in NA meetings now but I don't think hes taking any of this seriously. So my question is should I just stop hanging out with him? I'm not doing it because I don't like him anymore, its because he's let drugs take over his whole life. I don't have an issue at all with drug use, as long as its not out of control. And man, is he ever. He knows how I feel about this whole situation and he still uses the drugs but I know what an addictions like so I can't get that upset but still. I'm worried. He's literally destroying his life.
